PRADA FOUNDATION

The new headquarters of the Fondazione Prada, designed by the Rotterdam-based OMA studio directed by Rem Koolhaas, is just what Milan (after so much signature ‘international architecture’) needed: a place open to the world but profoundly Milanese and non-globalised, where high culture is told while avoiding didactic erudition but inspiring the public and where to excite without spectacle, with a rigorous sobriety that does not disdain irony.

TRIENNIAL MILAN

The Triennale di Milano is the Italian institution for architecture, decorative and visual arts, design, fashion and audiovisual production; it is a cultural production centre that organises conferences, film festivals, travelling exhibitions and shows. In addition to the exhibitions, note the Triennale Design Café, the bookshop (very good for its children’s book section) and the ‘Camparitivo’ or aperitif at the Triennale premises.
